Artist Statement
The immediate attraction between myself, objects, bodies, and materials around me responds faster than my thoughts. This makes me trust that in matter and ultimately objects I can learn to understand things about myself. In my work you will see how I explore materiality through chemical- and process-based procedures, while using jewelry as devices to place myself in the systems of the material. I aim to evoke the personal stories of objects in which the human is insisting to take part. The human presence is often portrayed as multi-facetted links in a machinery – a network ultimately of polarities seeking balance.
As a red thread though my work is the struggle of wanting to understand my emotions, seeming as they are both hard wired and chemical, as much as they are the most ungraspable, abstract, and ethereal.
